Harry and his friends are forced into hiding, but, far from giving up hope, they form their own secret rebellion.

In four cycles, Amicus Draconis tells the story of a world shattered and rebuilt throughout three wizarding wars, of two masterminds moving people like figures on a chessboard, and a boy torn between his destiny and his one true love.

About AD: Amicus Draconis is an epic Harry Potter WIP consisting of four parts named after the four Hogwarts houses. The first cycle (Cycle of the Badger) is rated PG-13, all following cycles will be rated R, due to violence and sexual situations. Each cycle can be seen as a separate novel, but they build on each other in terms of plot and storyline.

Since I started writing the fic in 2001, it stays canon true until GoF. OotP came out while I was working on Episode 9 and HBP came out while I was writing Episode 14. I will use characters and plot ideas from both OoTP and HBP in later chapters, but it wouldn’t be possible for me to change the original story.

I started translating the fic into English in 2004, and so far I have the trailer and the first four episodes finished. Translating the story feels like writing it all over again and I admit that I’m making some small changes here and there, kind of like a film director shooting a remake of his movie.

It’s very difficult to place AD in terms of genre, because it’s a mixture of all of them. I suppose, it could be called Gen, because it’s very plot-driven, but it’s also “Bitextual” because it contains both Het and Slash romances. I haven’t posted it to Slash lists and archives much, because I don’t want to reveal the parings yet. It would show the reader where the characters’ loyalties lie and since most of the characters try everything to disguise their plans and intentions, it would take away some of the ‘ah’ and ‘oh’ moments for readers.

There’s much fighting and running around which would make it Action/Adventure, but there’s also a lot of plotting and scheming involved which points towards Mystery. At times the story can get very dark and angsty, and sometimes it’s fluffy, romantic and just downright silly. Since some of the fic’s roots can be found in Japanese Anime (I’ll talk more about this in the background section) the jumps from Parody to Dark Story and vice versa can occur very sudden. Also, while most of the story is written in a fairly conventional way, you are not safe from weird POVs, blurs between story and reader reality, and many other things that make you go “Huh?”
