In Imperial Japanese Navy, the Naming-rule by JIMMU-KIGEN had been adopted since 1929 (Type 89), and the Codes (ex. A6M) had been adopted since 1935. On 1935, when the Codes adopted, old planes that had been used by IJN were designated the Codes too. On this page, I present the lists of Naval Warbirds sorted by the Codes. And additionally, I also list the experimental planes that the Codes not disignated.
The second letter of the Codes "X" meant "experimental" or "imported for research".
"Exp. Name" | Number is the Showa-year that requested from IJN. / "-shi" is the head letter of "Shisaku" (means experimental).
"First Flight" | "-":Not Flyed , Blank:Unknown
"Armament" | Payload for Bomber/Attacker/Tranport , Machine-guns(mm) (MC as Motor Canon) for Fighter
"Engine" | W:Water cooled , A:Air cooled , L : Liquid cooled , R : Rocket , J : Jet, D : Diesel
