208 missile
Russian surface-to-air missile. In this version of the V-300 the warhead was increased to 430 kg to compensate for accuracy problems in the original production version. Cancelled in favor of the 207A.
AKA: La-208.
Trials began in 1953, initially with poor results due to guidance system problems. The modified S09-29.0-0B engine with an air compression feed system worked well. By the beginning of 1954 good results were being obtained with the less-modified 207A version of the missile, so the 208 was cancelled, and not put into service.
Family: surface-to-air. Country: Russia. Agency: Almaz bureau, Grushin.
