RD-127
Yuzhnoye solid rocket engine. Maneuvering vehicle bang-bang propulsion, consisted of 25 small solid-propellant motors, probably for homing vehicles or multiple warhead dispensing applications.
The RD-127 type rocket family consisted of 25 small solid-propellant motors, probably for bang-bang thrust application for homing vehicles or multiple warhead dispensing applications. All were of the same configuration, having a common mounting fitting but were produced in four groups of different diameters. All the motors were ignited through the nozzle. The family could provide any value of thrust pulse within the limits of 5 to 300 kgf-s with 1-2 % scatter. Vacuum thrust was from 200 to 6300 kgf; operating time up to 0.17 seconds; motor mass from 1.15 to 7.49 kg; diameter from 82 to 128 mm; and length from 177 to 282 mm.
Country: Ukraine. Propellants: Solid. Agency: Yuzhnoye. Bibliography: 4477.
