Zhukov, Nikolai Nikolayevich


Russian officer. Lieutenant General; Chief of Staff for GUKOS Space Command 1982-1984

Born: 1922.

Zhukov entered the military in 1940, and served during the war with the 32nd Air Assault Regiment of the VVS Air Force, then flew with the Black Sea Fleet in 1942-1944 on the Bulgarian Front. In October 1944 he entered the Zhukovskiy Academy, and after defending his dissertation was made a Senior Engineer on the General Staff of the VVS. In 1962 he was Chief of the Operations Director GSh VS, then Chief of Rocketry and Space Matters. In 1976-1982 he was Deputy Chief GUKOS for military operations, and from 1982-1987 Chief of Staff, GUKOS. In July 1984 he was a candidate for the Military Soviet, then a consultant to the Operational Staff Research Office of the 50 TsNII KS MO military research institute. He retired in 1987.
