Ptolemy III did much to encourage the worship of Egyptian gods, through building projects such as the great Serapeum, but in this inscription the cult of the royal family in Alexandria is still linked to the traditional Greek god Olympian Zeus. On behalf of king Ptolemaios, son of Ptolemaios and Arsinoē the gods Adelphoi, and queen Berenike the wife and sister of the king, the gods Euergetai; Kleon and Antipatros the priests of Zeus dedicated these altars and precincts and their appertaining land to the gods Adelphoi, to Olympian Zeus and to Zeus Sunōmosios.
