First on Melbourne's list in <1939>, Neenan had been the best and fairest player in the CYMS competition the previous year and played for their state representative team. After playing in the Seconds premiership he debuted late in <1940>.

A forward and relief ruckman, Neenan was a fringe player throughout two premiership seasons and moved to South Melbourne halfway through <1942> where he added another three games to his career tally late in the season - including a semi final. Despite playing in three wins during his South career he was dropped before their losing Preliminary Final and didn't play VFL football again.

Notes
V Neenan shown as cleared cleared from Brunswick CYMS before the <1938> season - probably the same person. A Frank Neenan is shown as an ex-Williamstown player in 1940 and at Melbourne in 1941 - it's unclear if this is the same Neenan. Also shown as from North Brunswick CYMS.
