Recruited to Melbourne in <1920>, he played three games. McIntyre was cleared to before the <1921> season and remained with them until they joined the league in <1925>, after which he played 13 more VFL games. Also played with Brighton in <1928>.

Listed in newspapers as being recruited from an 'unalloted district'. In 1916 he enlisted in the army in Melbourne, showing his place of birth as East Malvern.
