Despite having been leading goalkicker at Sandringham in <1948> (73 goals) and <1949> (53 goals), Hiscock was recruited by Melbourne as a half-forward rather than a full-forward because he lacked the size to be a league spearhead. He had first appeared at Melbourne training in the <1949> pre-season, but failed to impress and returned to his old side when they refused to clear him to the VFL.
Sandringham promised he would be allowed to train with the Demons in <1950>, and he won his first start early in the new season. He played just a handful of games at Melbourne before returning to the Zebras - when he played a total of 107 games and kicked 196 goals.
Joined Trentham in <1954>, captain/coached them to the Riddell League premiership in <1956>, and was reappointed for <1957>.
Hiscock also played district cricket for Caulfield.
