The older brother of John Fidge battled injury during his career, missing all of <1984> while hurt. He had his best years in <1985> and <1986> with 42 goals, before further injuries kept him out of the <1987> campaign. Called into the side for his first match of the year in <1988> he was reported for striking Darren Millane from and suspended for six matches in what would turn out to be his last VFL appearance. Surgery for a groin injury cost him more games, and despite leading the goalkicking Fidge was delisted at the end of the year.
He captain/coached Sale in <1989> and <1990>, finishing third in the Gippsland League both years, and was named on the interchange bench of their team of the 90s. Played for Werribee in <1992>.
