Coconut Creek, Florida (U.S.) (original) (raw)

The photo of the city council shows the city flag in the background: www.coconutcreek.net/government/default.asp. It appears to be a white flag with the city seal embroidered in gold on black.

The flag of the City of Coconut Creek, Florida, is the city logo on a dark blue field, bordered with two borders white and dark blue. Yvonne Lopez, Community Relations Manager, City of Coconut Creek, sent me image of the flag. She also sent me the story about the city:

"The Butterfly Capital of the World". Coconut Creek is located in South Florida and is a picturesque city of 50,000 with an abundance of trees, waterways, attractive landscaped roads, beautiful parks, and butterfly gardens throughout our neighborhoods. When in our area, please visit Main Street which is in the heart of the city and home to the Promenade of Coconut Creek, a green mixed-use lifestyle center filled with an abundance of shops and restaurants and the Seminole Coconut Creek casino, which features gaming machines, poker, restaurants and live entertainment.

Our business community is thriving. We have over 1,500 businesses with many of the larger corporations situated in the Lyons Technology Center or Lyons Business Park .
[...]
We are proud to boast that we are widely recognized as a well-planned community with a unique environmental consciousness. Coconut Creek is the first in the State of Florida and eleventh in the country to be certified as a Community Wildlife Habitat. In addition, the Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association (FAPA) has recognized the City's "MainStreet Design Standards" project with an Award of Excellence in planning. Our city also received a national honor from the Kodak American Greenways Awards Program for the creation of interpretative signs for City Greenways and Parks."

As told - the flag has the town logo - completely different from the seal.
