August 31, 1818 - July 31, 1888Born Robert Williams Peckham, Rob Morris took the name of his foster parent, John Morris. Educated as a lawyer, he became a lecturer, educator, author, poet, lyricist and—for a time—president of Oldham College. He is best remembered for writing the ritual for what was then called a women’s adoptive rite, the Order of the Eastern Star. He has been frequently styled the Poet Laureate of Masonry.
