- Subject: GCC mainline now open for bug fixes under normal Stage 3 rules
There are now 99 serious regressions against GCC 4.1.
From now until November 18th, the GCC mainline will be open for bug fixes under the usual Stage 3 rules, rather than the more restrictive rules we've been operating under recently. On November 18th, I plan to make the branch and open Stage 1 for GCC 4.2.
Please exercise due care during this time. While we're allowing bug-fixes, the primary goal is still to prepare for the 4.1 release. So, if you're fixing bugs that aren't regressions, please be very careful not to be introducing new bugs in the process. I will consider asking for patches to be reverted if they prove disruptive.
Thanks,
