6th ODI - India vs England in Mumbai

** When Harbhajan Singh claimed the wicket of Graham Thorpe, he became the 18th Indian and the 127th overall to capture 50 wickets in LOIs. Harbhajan now has 54 wickets in all in 40 matches.

** Interestingly, he the quickest Indian spinner to reach this milestone in his 40th match. Former left-arm spinner Maninder Singh needed 42 matches to achieve his landmark in January 1988. For the record, Indian Ajit Agarkar holds the LOI record by taking his 50th wicket in least number of matches - 23 - in September 1998.

** Harbhajan's 5-43 was his best bowling figures of his career bettering his previous best of 3-27 against South Africa at Centurion on 10-10-2001.

** He also becomes the second Indian bowler to take a five-wicket haul against England. Teammate Javagal Srinath had taken 5-41 at Bangalore on 26-2-1993. Curiously, India lost both the matches.

** However Harbhajan's performance was the best by an Indian spinner against England bettering the 4-40 by left-armer Ravi Shastri at Nagpur on 23-1-1985.

** Although two other bowlers (West Indian Winston Benjamin, 5-22 against Sri Lanka on 9-11-1993) and Australian Damien Fleming, 5-36 against India on 27-2-1996) have better figures than Harbhajan at this ground, the latter's figures were the best by an Indian bowler. Manoj Prabhakar had the previous best figures of 4-19 against Zimbabwe on 17-10-1987.

** The three dismissals (including two stumpings) by Ajay Ratra was the second best performance by an Indian keeper against England. The best still remains with Sadanand Viswanath when he claimed five dismissals (3 catches and 2 stumpings) at Sydney on 26-2-1985.

** The partnership of 31 runs between Andrew Flintoff and James Foster was the best for England against India for the 8th wicket bettering the previous best of 27 (unbeaten) between Jack Richards and Philip de Freitas at Sharjah on 2-4-1987.

** The partnership of 37 runs between Andrew Flintoff and Darren Gough was the best at this venue for the 10th wicket bettering the previous best of 36 between Zimbabweans Andy Pycroft and Malcolm Jarvis against the home team on 17-10-1987.

** The above partnership was also England's best against India for the last wicket. The pair obliterates the previous best of 13 between Ashley Giles and Matthew Hoggard at Calcutta on 19-1-2002.

** Andrew Fintoff's 3-38 was his best career bowling performance bettering the previous best of 2-3 against Pakistan at Sharjah on 12-4-1999.

** Flintoff (40 and 3-38) emulated Vic Marks (44 and 3-50 at Cuttack on 27-12-1984) to record one of the best all-round performance in a match by an Englishman against India.
