one other nit in the spec, it is somewhat confusing the description of bufLen. The "Description" is correct, explicitly it says the number of entries, however the parameter description says:
bufLen: the length of the buffer
I think this should be explicit as well, and also suggest renaming bufLen to nvmBuf or something along these lines.
