If you're dropping the jdk9 testcase for 8u porting, can you please consider updating an existing one to test this new functionality ? It should be possible and it'll help verify the backport for quality team.

It's not a new functionality per se, but in JDK9 the property is provided with the command line option, while in JDK8 it was a static calendar.properties file. Filed the following issue to create a JDK8 specific test case.
