Can proguard be used to build deployment bundle for JWS? (original) (raw)

That is good to hear. That line uses the word bundle & thought it must mean embed. Might be too much information for just followers.

I am assuming now that putting deploy.createWebStartLaunchButton("my_app.jnlp", "1.7.0") of deployJava.js in html page is all that I need to do. Also am assuming Java.com is only gone to for runtime checking of subsequent launches. FYI, java.com seems stuck on installing 1.6.

Hello:

Looking at the status page, I find that the MacOSX version of JWS needs to include a RJE. If this is the case, is there going to be a way to make rt.jar & the others as inputs to proguard, not just libraries? That's not the case at all. If you saw something on the status page that led you to believe that I should edit it. Only standalone applications that will be distributed through the app store will need to bundle a JRE. End users will get a JRE, which includes Web Start and the Java plugin. Shortcuts will not need to embed a JRE, but they will need to be smart enough to detect if a Java runtime is installed and direct the user to java.com if it isn't. That work isn't done yet, but it's next on my list. -- Scott K. ------------------------ Scott Kovatch Oracle Pleasanton, CA
