The application has not changed. The big change is that the Java 7 VM is bundled inside the Mac app now. Previously, OSX was able to find an Apple-supplied VM under /Library.

I meant, maybe since the JDK7 rendering pipelines are so different than Apple had in 6, that we are creating and disposing lots of in a way that never happened in 6. If these are visible in the java heap, your profiling should show them.
