FWIW, my understanding was only standard library changes would be allowed after Apr 30. I don't recall hearing anything about "pure python" vs. otherwise, but I guess "pure python" corresponds to "standard library"...?
Not at all. There's a whole slew of C extensions that are considered part of the standard library.
