I think the conclusion was to get rid of PyFindMethod altogether. The replacement isn't very hard. But it hasn't been done yet.
Do you need you some help for that? Perhaps, I could try to write a patch to replace the trivial use cases of Py_FindMethod in the stdlib. Also, I think it would be a good idea to document the change, too.
