One of the big advantage of japanese Input Methods. They can be extended easily to fit your need.

I can type "siguma" on my laptop here and windows (same in Linux) gives me the following choices

It could be nice for reading, for those who know the Greek alphabet. (Those who don't would see every Greek letter as just a squiggle.) Writing, though? I don't have a clue how to type Greek letters, so I'd end up copy-and-pasting variable names. Icky. Neil
