After two false starts over the YEARS of trying to cleanup and reorganize the stdlib, creating a SIG to get this going, having Guido give the PEP the once-over over the past several days, and creating two new bugs reports (issues 2715 and 2716), PEP 3108 is finally ready for public vetting!
I've accepted this PEP. Everyone, get to work on implementing this! I'm sure some small nits will come up during the work that nobody anticipated during the PEP discussion. In that case, let's be flexible and work to update the PEP with the best possible solution.
