+1 if it's a compile-time error, +0 if it isn't and won't be made one. The compile-time error makes it a lot easier to track down the issues, if any. (Okay, so everyone should have proper unit testing -- not everyone actually has it ;)
I suspect it would be a compile-time error, but I haven't looked at compiling string literals yet ;P
