Has the magic for .pyc files been fixed?
No.
If not, shouldn't this be done before the 2.2 release.
That's why 2.2 has to ship before January .
The last time this came up, people tried to turn "the magic number" into a database. Since Guido won't go for that, chances seem good that, in the absence of a reasonably modest alternative scheme, we'll just pick new numbers out of a hat.
