Of course, in the absence of code, we all get to have a lot of fun talking about what might go wrong if it works the way we assume it does,

... and drive the person who has to summarize all of this bloody long thread insane.

At least it helped give me some inspiration (along with one of Martin's emails) on how to implement dummy_threading rather easily.
