I guess the workaround in MM<2.1 is to process ~mailman/logs/bounce once in awhile. I presume this is academic, because by the time PEP 2 is a reality, MM>=2.1 will have been installed on mail.python.org and Jeremy will be able to configure it so he gets "joe@aol.com bouncing, disabled" messages.
