D'oh! Since it's only a failure of the test code (not the module itself) I'll add a note to the bugs page in the test section.
Jeff Epler's fix seems appropriate. There's always 2.3.2 - since 2.4 is still a fair way off, it seems likely that a 2.3.2 sometime around January would be appropriate. Of course, if the bsddb3 weirdness does actually turn out to be something more serious, it might be sooner.
