Idle still has it's own NEWS.txt file, and it's own version number (for instance, 2.3.1's version of idle is "1.0.1". Does this make sense? What should happen for 2.3.2, where no idle changes have been made?
I thin it's appropriate for IDLE to have its own version, news etc. Many modules in the stdlib have their own version and docstring.
