I think that in this particular case, late binding, with its sharp edges, gives more power than binding capturing, and the latter, in its attempts to smoothen the sharp edges, also takes away some power.

Also, it only takes away some of the sharp edges, and rather arbitrarily chosen ones at that, so you still have to be on the lookout for sharp edges whenever you use it. Rather like having a sword that's only sharp on two edges instead of three...
