Barring some radical new thing in alpha3, the heavy lifting of the "What's New" is done so I'm available to help with documentation. (The functional programming howto can wait a little while longer.) I assume all we need is the module-level docs for the LibRef? So, what's the scope of the proposed addition? Everything in the wsgiref package, including the simpleserver module?
Yes. simple_server is, coincidentally, the most controversial point on the Web-SIG, in that some argue for including a "better" web server. However, nobody has come forth and said, "Here's my web server, it's stable and I want to put it in the stdlib", so the discussion wound down in general vagueness the last time it was brought up.
