Dunno, but I'm always having problems w/ Solaris tar, so I just use GNU tar on Solaris. ;)
Maybe we should switch to cpio-based distributions?
Peace, brother... Err, pax(1).
-bash-3.00$ uname -a SunOS tb3 5.10 Generic sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440 -bash-3.00$ bunzip2 -c Python-2.4.2.tar.bz2 |pax -r pax: ././@LongLink : Unknown filetype
This message refers to the links in Mac/OSXResources/app/Resources/English.lproj/Documentation/ide
Apart from that, pax extracts it the same way as gtar.
Regards, Martin
P.S. I always ROTFL when I see mentioning of the "tar wars" in the POSIX standard.
