As a side note, I've done a significant amount of work on a newer version of epydoc that supports both inspection & source-code parsing (and can merge the info from both sources, if they're available). Hopefully this new version will address some of these concerns (and some other issues I've heard raised). But I haven't had time to work on it in a while -- I need to concentrate on getting my phd thesis done. If anyone is interested in working on this new version, just let me know. :)
