Well, I, for one, have Python 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, 3.1 and 3.2 installed in my machine (Ubuntu 10.04) because I need to support code spanning such a range of python versions. I remember that compiling 2.3 or 2.4 was a bit painful.
