Details in the Trifid Nebula M20
This AAT picture shows details near the center of the Trifid nebula M20, including a compact cluster of newly formed, young stars, the hottest of which now excite the nebula's gas to shine in a region of 40 light years in diameter. This cluster is found near the location where the Trifid Nebula's dust lanes apparently come together.
