mysql_num_rows — Get number of rows in result

Return Values

The number of rows in a result set on success or [false](reserved.constants.php#constant.false) on failure.

Examples

Example #1 mysql_num_rows() example

`<?php

$link

= mysql_connect("localhost", "mysql_user", "mysql_password");
mysql_select_db("database", link);link);link);result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM table1", $link); numrows=mysqlnumrows(num_rows = mysql_num_rows(numrows=mysqlnumrows(result);

echo

"$num_rows Rows\n";?>`

Notes

Note:

If you use mysql_unbuffered_query(), mysql_num_rows() will not return the correct value until all the rows in the result set have been retrieved.
