Scratch update, Valve announces new Counter-Strike game

In a complete blindside Valve has announced that they will be working with Hidden Path Entertainment to create Counter-Strike: Global offensive. CS:GO is billed as "[introducing] new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards..." as well as "new maps, characters, and weapons".
Is Counter-Strike going to become the next Left 4 Dead? Or is this going to be another Condition Zero? We're all going to find out together.
