The 75mm M4 gun was mounted on a number of B-25 Mitchell medium bombers. It was essentially an M3 tank gun modified to handle recoil somewhat more gracefully. This was not very successful, as the gun had to be manually reloaded and thus had a dismal rate of fire, and its recoil put great strain on the airframe. The U.S. Air Force eventually turned to rocketarmament instead.
