Van Ghent Class, Dutch

Destroyers (original) (raw)

The _Van Ghents_were built in 1924-28 in Dutchshipyards to a Britishdesign based loosely on the Absucade. The subsequent Van Galens were quite similar and the two groups are sometimes listed together as the Admiralen class. All were obsolescent by the start of the Pacific War, but they formed the main Dutch destroyer strength in the Netherlands East Indies. All were lost during the war.
