Capt. Levi Youmans' Loyalists (original) (raw)
Captain Levi Youmans' Company, SC Royalists, Muster Roll, Savannah, GA 1 Dec. 1779. This troup is infamous for being composed of, and operating in and near, Allendale and Barnwell, SC. We even have surviving oral traditions of this man in my family! Oral tradition has it that Levi Youmans was so hated that he fled to a British possession in the Caribbean after the war. Since they were in the Allendale area, this company may have faced off against Captain Peyer im Hoff's Patriots.
