CySat 1 [Iowa State University]
The CySat 1 (Cyclone Satellite 1) is a 3U CubeSat technology demonstrator mission by the Iowa State University to test an asteroid surveying payload and 3U satellite platform for operation in an asteroid environment, and enable students to design a small satellite system and mission from concept to flight.
The project is intended to establish a small satellite program at Iowa State that allows the opportunity for students to apply their knowledge and coursework to a real astronautics project. CySat pulls students from a number of the Engineering Departments to foster an interdisciplinary environment within the College of Engineering and accomplish complex missions requiring multiple areas of expertise.
CySat will carry a miniature Infrared spectrometer and a mapping radar
It was selected in 2017 by NASA's CubeSat Launch Initiative (CSLI) to be launched as part of the ELaNa program.
