Indostar 2 / ProtoStar 2 [Boeing BSS]
ProtoStar ordered in 2007 the ProtoStar 2 satellite from Boeing Satellite Systems (BSS), Inc.
The satellite uses an already existing Boeing BSS-601HPor "high power" version of the body-stabilized spacecraft. The spacecraft was originally built as Galaxy 8iR, which was cancelled in 2004. For use as ProtoStar 2 the payload was modified to contain 10 S-band transponders, which will act as a replacement for the Indostar 1 satellite. The S-band payload is operated under the name of Indostar 2 (Cakrawarta 2).
The Indostar 2 / ProtoStar 2 was launched in 2009. In Late 2009 the satellite was sold in an auction to SES after the ProtoStar venture succumbed to multiple frequency-coordination issues. The satellite was renamed SES 7 in May 2010.
