Lt.-Col. Robin Hood William Stewart Hastings was born on 16 January 1917.2 He was the son of Hon. Osmond William Toome Westenra Hastings and Mary Caroline Campbell Tarratt.2 He married Jean Suzanne Palethorpe, daughter of Henry Palethorpe, on 25 May 1950.2 He died on 28 March 1990 at age 73 at Alresford, Hampshire, England.2,3
He was educated at Stowe School, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.2 He fought in the Second World War, where he was wounded, and was mentioned in despatches twice.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He was awarded the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1944 and bar (1945.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Rifle Brigade.2 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1945.1 He lived at Bramdean Manor, Alresford, Hampshire, EnglandG.2
