Colonel George Hammond Aykroyd1

Colonel George Hammond Aykroyd was born on 1 July 1900.2 He was the son of Sir William Henry Aykroyd, 1st Bt. and Emma Louisa Hammond.1,2 He married Margaret Roberts Aykroyd, daughter of Sir Frederick Alfred Aykroyd, 1st Bt. and Lily May Roberts, on 2 September 1924.1 He died on 30 September 1972 at age 72.1
He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, EnglandG.2 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1923 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery.3 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Artillery.1 He was Master of Foxhounds.1 He lived at The Priory, Nun Monkton, York, Yorkshire, EnglandG.3

Sir William Henry Aykroyd, 1st Bt.1

Sir William Henry Aykroyd, 1st Bt. was born on 8 May 1865.2 He was the son of Alfred Aykroyd and Ellen Milnes.2 He married Emma Louisa Hammond, daughter of Ezra Waugh Hammond, on 29 January 1890.2 He died on 3 April 1947 at age 81.2
He was appointed Officer, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (O.St.J.)2 He was created 1st Baronet Aykroyd, of Lightcliffe, co. Yorks [U.K.] on 16 June 1920.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of Yorkshire in 1926.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the West Riding, Yorkshire.2
