He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for County Limerick between 1707 and 1713.3 He held the office of Governor of Limerick Castle on 12 November 1714.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1715.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Westbury between 1715 and 1722.3 He was created 1st Baron Carbery, of Carbery, co.
