Admiral Sir Compton Edward Domvile was born on 10 October 1842.1 He was the son of Henry Barry Domvile and Frances Winnington-Ingram.2,1 He married Isabella Peel, daughter of Lt. Col. Edmund Yates Peel and Maria Frances Knighton Chadwick, on 3 August 1876.1 He died on 19 November 1924 at age 82.1
He was educated at Royal Academy School, Gosport, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 In 1868 he served against pirates.1 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM Queen Victoria between 1888 and 1891.1 He was member of the Ordnance Committee between 1890 and 1891.1 He was Director of Naval Ordnance between 1891 and 1894.1 He was 2nd in-charge of the Mediterranean Command between 1894 and 1896.1 He was Superintendant of Naval Reserves between 1897 and 1902.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1898.1 He was awarded the 1st Class in Brilliants of the Medjidie.1 He fought in the Boer War.1 He was Commander-in-Chief of the Mediterranean Station between 1902 and 1905.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.) in 1903.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1904.1 He retired from the military in 1905, with the rank of Admiral.1 He was awarded the Order of the Redeemer of Greece.1 He lived at Hove, Sussex, EnglandG.1
