Major Peter Merton Beckwith-Smith was born on 25 June 1919.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Merton Beckwith-Smith and Honor Dorothy Leigh.1 He married Annabel Cecilia Mary Newman, daughter of Sir Cecil Gustavus Jacques Newman, 2nd Bt. and Joan Florence Mary Grimston, on 9 December 1947.1 He died on 14 September 1984 at age 65.1,2
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War, serving in France, North-West Europe and Palestine.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in 1956.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) in 1962.1 He lived at Carewell Lodge, Wingfield, Surrey, EnglandG.1
