Samuel Gurney Buxton was born on 1 November 1838.1 He was the son of Sir Edward North Buxton, 2nd Bt. and Catherine Gurney.2 He married, firstly, Louisa Caroline Hoare, daughter of John Gurney Hoare and Caroline Barclay, on 3 September 1861.1 He married, secondly, Mary Anne Birkbeck, daughter of Henry Birkbeck, on 7 June 1886.1 He died on 12 February 1909 at age 70.1
He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Norfolk.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Norfolk.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Norfolk in 1891.1 He lived at Catton Hall, Norfolk, EnglandG.1
