Elizabeth Lundie was the daughter of Sir Robert Lundie of Balgonie and Jean Lindsay.1,2 She married, secondly, David Lundie.1 She married, firstly, Sir John Lindsay, Master of Lindsay, son of Patrick Lindsay, 4th Lord Lindsay of the Byres and Isabella Pitcairn, before 8 September 1521.1
From before 8 September 1521, her married name became Lindsay.1

John Lindsay, 5th Lord Lindsay of the Byres was the son of Sir John Lindsay, Master of Lindsay and Elizabeth Lundie.2 He married Lady Helen Stewart, daughter of John Stewart, 2nd Earl of Atholl.2 He died circa 17 December 1563.2
He held the office of Sheriff of Fife in 1526.2 He succeeded as the 5th Lord Lindsay of the Byres [S., 1444] after 8 March 1526.2 He held the office of Extraordinary Lord of Session in 1532.2 In 1542 he was one of the four peers charged with caring for the infant Mary, Queen of Scots.2 He held the office of Hereiditary Justiciar of St. Andrews.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in 1545.2 He fought in the Battle of Ancrum Muir on 6 March 1544/45, where he commanded Scots forces.2
