Lt.-Col. John Mackay Brace Poyntz1

Lt.-Col. John Mackay Brace Poyntz was born on 12 July 1916.1 He was the son of Colonel Hugh Stainton Poyntz and Hilda Gwendoline Thackeray.2 He married Joan Stewart Menzies Ogilvie, daughter of Charles Ogilvie, on 26 July 1940.1 He died in September 2003 at age 87 at Petersfield, Hampshire, England.3,4
He was educated at Stowe School, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.1 He was commissioned in 1936, in the service of the Seaforth Highlanders.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was Commanding Officer of the 3rd Gold Coast Regiment in 1946.1 He fought in the unknown campaign in 1949, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1950.1 He was a Queen's Messenger.1 He adopted Jane Caroline Ogilvie Poyntz.5 He adopted Jocelin Georgina Massey Poyntz.5 He retired from the military in 1960.1 He lived in 1969 at Tylston Lodge, Liphook, Hampshire, EnglandG.1
