Robert Porrett Collier, 1st Baron Monkswell of Monkswell was born on 21 June 1817.2 He was the son of John Collier and Emma Porrett.3 He married Isabella Rose Rose, daughter of William Rose Rose, on 14 April 1844.2 He died on 27 October 1886 at age 69.2
He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1841 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He was a practising barrister in 1843.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Plymouth between 1852 and 1871.2 He was appointed Queen's Counsel (Q.C.) in 1854.2 He held the office of Recorder of Penzance.2 He was Judge Advocate the Fleet and Counsel of the Admirallty between 1859 and 1863.2 He was appointed Knight in 1863.2 He held the office of Solicitor-General between 1863 and 1866.2 He held the office of Attorney-General between 1868 and 1871.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1871.2 He held the office of Judge of the Court of Common Pleas in 1871.2 He held the office of Judge of the Judicial Committee, Privy Council.2 He was created 1st Baron Monkswell of Monkswell, co. John Collier and Marian Huxley.1 She married, firstly, Leslie Crawshay-Williams, son of Arthur John Williams, on 27 April 1906.2 She and Leslie Crawshay-Williams were divorced in 1918.2 She married, secondly, Drysdale Kilburn, son of Nicholas Kilburn, on 2 November 1918.2 She died on 21 November 1972.2
She was a portrait miniaturist.2 From 27 April 1906, her married name became Crawshay-Williams. She was registered as a member of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters.2 From 2 November 1918, her married name became Kilburn.
